Effective date: October 28, 2026
These Terms of Use and Sale (the “Terms”) govern your use of sonotecacademy.com and everything sold or provided on it, including the SPI Exam Simulator (including its mock exams and question bank), the free demo, and any future courses (together, the “Services”). The Services are operated by Sonotec Academy, a Sonotec Imaging company (“Sonotec Academy,” “we,” “us”). By creating an account, buying, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy and Disclaimer. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. Independent study product. Not affiliated with ARDMS
Sonotec Academy is an independent provider of study materials. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), Inteleos, or any school or credentialing body. ARDMS, SPI, RDMS, RDCS, RVT, RMSKS and related names are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to describe the exam our materials help you prepare for.
2. No guarantee of results
The Services are for educational and exam-preparation purposes only. We do not guarantee that you will pass the SPI or any other exam, earn any credential, or achieve any particular score. Your result depends on many factors outside our control, including your background, study time and effort. Scores, “scaled scores,” pass/fail indicators and unit or topic results shown in our practice exams are estimates for study purposes only. They are not official scores and do not predict your actual exam result. Any statements about the instructor’s teaching experience describe past classroom experience and are not a promise of your outcome.
3. Original practice questions
Our questions are original practice items written to follow the published SPI content outline. They are not actual exam questions, and we do not use, buy or request recalled or “live” exam content. You agree not to submit, post or share actual exam content through the Services, and to follow the confidentiality rules you accept when you take any registry exam. Exam facts on our site (fees, format, scoring, policies) come from public ARDMS/Inteleos information and may change; always confirm current details at inteleos.org.
4. Not medical or professional advice
The Services teach ultrasound physics and instrumentation concepts. They are not medical advice, clinical guidance, or a substitute for your training program, clinical supervision, equipment manuals or employer protocols. Do not rely on the Services to make decisions about patient care.
5. Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to buy. Users from 13 to 17 may use the Services only with a parent or guardian’s permission and supervision. You agree to give accurate information, keep your password confidential, and tell us promptly about any unauthorized use. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
6. Your license. One person, personal use
When you buy access, we give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the purchased materials for your own individual study. One purchase is for one person. You may not:
- share your login, or let anyone else use your account;
- copy, screenshot, record, download, print in bulk, scrape, export or otherwise reproduce questions, answers, explanations, images or other content;
- post, sell, resell, rent, publish or distribute any content, including in study groups, social media, file-sharing sites, or other courses or question banks;
- use any content, or allow it to be used, to train or prompt artificial-intelligence or machine-learning systems, or to create competing products;
- use bots, scripts or other automated tools to access the Services, or try to bypass access controls, payment or security; or
- use the Services for any unlawful purpose or in a way that harms us or other users.
Schools, programs or employers that want access for several students must contact us for a group license. If we reasonably believe you have broken this section, we may suspend or end your access without a refund, and we may take legal action to protect our content.
7. Ownership
All content in the Services, including questions, answer explanations, diagrams, illustrations, images, videos, text, design, software and the Sonotec Academy name and logo, is owned by Sonotec Academy or its licensors and is protected by U.S. and international copyright, trademark and other laws. Except for the limited license in Section 6, no rights are granted to you.
8. Purchases, payment and access
Prices are in U.S. dollars and are shown at checkout. Payments are processed by PayPal (including card payments through PayPal); we do not receive or store your full card or bank details. You agree to pay all charges, including any applicable taxes. We may change prices at any time, but a change does not affect an order you have already paid for. Unless a product page says otherwise, a purchase gives you access to that product for at least 12 months from the date of purchase. We may update, add, remove, correct or reorganize questions and features at any time to keep the content accurate and current; this does not entitle you to a refund. We may refuse or cancel any order, for example for a pricing error or suspected fraud; if we cancel a paid order, we will refund it.
9. Refunds and chargebacks
Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy. Please contact us before disputing a charge with PayPal or your bank. If you file a chargeback or payment dispute without first contacting us, or for a purchase you used, we may suspend your account while the dispute is open, and end it if the dispute is resolved in your favor.
10. Accuracy and error reports
We work hard to keep content accurate, but errors, outdated information or technical problems can occur. If you think a question, answer or explanation is wrong, email us at r.mena@sonotecimaging.com. We will review it and correct it if needed. Errors in individual questions do not entitle you to a refund.
11. Availability and third-party services
We aim to keep the Services available but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access. Maintenance, hosting, internet or device problems may affect access. Some practice-exam history is stored in your own browser, so clearing your browser data or changing devices may erase it. The Services may link to or rely on third parties (such as PayPal, our hosting provider, and ARDMS/Inteleos websites). We are not responsible for third-party sites or services.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SONOTEC ACADEMY, SONOTEC IMAGING AND THEIR OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, INSTRUCTORS AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST WAGES, LOST EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES, EXAM FEES, RETAKE FEES, OR LOST DATA, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICES OR ANY EXAM RESULT. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these limits, so they may not apply to you to that extent.
14. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Sonotec Academy, Sonotec Imaging and their owners, employees and agents from any claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your misuse of the Services, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
15. Ending access
You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or if required by law. Sections 2, 3, 4, 6 (restrictions), 7, and 12 through 17 survive after access ends.
16. Disputes, governing law and arbitration
If you have a concern, please email us first at r.mena@sonotecimaging.com. We will try to resolve it informally within 30 days. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that we cannot resolve informally will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, held in Riverside County, California, or by video, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either party may seek a court order to stop infringement or misuse of intellectual property. You and we each waive the right to a jury trial and to take part in a class action or class arbitration. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing us within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. If this arbitration section is found unenforceable, disputes will be heard only in the state or federal courts in Riverside County, California.
17. General
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and changes apply from that date. Continuing to use the Services means you accept the updated Terms. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms, together with the policies linked above, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Services. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours as part of a business transfer.
