Effective date: October 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Sonotec Academy, a Sonotec Imaging company (“we,” “us”), collects, uses and shares information when you use sonotecacademy.com and our courses and practice exams (the “Services”).
Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, username and password (stored in encrypted, hashed form) when you register.
- Purchase information: when you buy, PayPal processes your payment. We receive your name, email, the product, amount, date and transaction ID. We do not receive or store your full card or bank account number.
- Learning activity: your enrollments and course progress in our learning system. Your practice-exam history and saved progress are stored in your own browser (local storage) on your device, not on our servers.
- Messages: anything you send us, such as support requests or error reports.
- Technical information: IP address, browser and device type, pages visited and server logs, collected automatically by our website and hosting provider for security, caching and troubleshooting.
- Cookies: we use cookies that are needed to keep you signed in, run checkout and make the site load quickly. We do not use advertising cookies.
How we use information
- to create and manage your account and give you access to what you bought;
- to process orders, prevent fraud and enforce our Terms (for example, detecting account sharing);
- to send account, purchase and service emails;
- to send news about our courses and products, only if you agree. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in any marketing email;
- to respond to you, fix errors and improve the Services; and
- to comply with law and protect our rights.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us run the Services, such as our website host (Hostinger), our payment processor (PayPal) and our email tools, and only so they can do that work for us;
- Legal and safety: when required by law, or to protect our rights, users or others; and
- Business transfers: as part of a merger, sale or reorganization of our business.
Data retention
We keep account and purchase records while your account is active and as long as needed for tax, accounting and legal purposes. You can ask us to delete your account at any time (see below).
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections and hashed passwords. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Your choices and rights
You can update your profile in your account dashboard. You may ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to stop marketing emails, by emailing r.mena@sonotecimaging.com. California residents may also have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know, delete and correct personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for using these rights. We will verify your request using the email on your account. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law.
Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Please do not share patient information
The Services are an educational product and are not designed to receive protected health information. Do not upload or send us patient images, names or other patient information.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new effective date.
